Research on institutional logos

Large, mainstream media organisations make money appealing to as many people as possible. Their content tends to be topics that will interest large numbers of readers, viewers and listeners. Alternative media outlets, on the other hand, tend to have a smaller, faithful following that seeks a unique viewpoint. Your business message can hit home with people if you happen to share the viewpoint of the alternative media outlet you are considering. However, if you have a message, product or service that appeals to a wide range of people, you may want to deal with the mainstream media. A mainstream company will usually be very expensive to create and will also have any expensive look, for example animation. Big production companies can afford to spend thousands and thousands on the best institutional logo. However Independent companies can't afford this because they don't get funding from massive organisations so are unable to supply their audiences with these extravagant animated logo's. Usually with a bigger film they will be apart of what the industry call the big six. Meaning they will be funded by these billion dollar companies in order for their production company's logo to be in the film. This can be seen for companies like, Dream works, Pixar, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros e.c.t These are we'll known institutional logo because these logo are seen every where on Mainstream films. The reason these companies have such expensive and extravagant film logo's is because they rely on the public to know who they are through their branding just like when you by a product like RedBall you know they have the blue and silver cans with the two red balls and the sun. However for smaller, independent companies they can't afford the cost of having such high value logo's. They obviously want to be known just like the bigger companies but simply don't have to many to compete with these companies and that is why they have to make do with what they have got. These logo's that are usually created by these companies will be still and will not move as even making the smallest adjustment by making their institutional logo move will have a larger cost.
This is defiantly going to help us when considering creating our own institutional logo because we have to take into consideration wether or not we're a mainstream or independent company. This is also going to help us when creating our institutional logo because we can see what type of logo we have to create if it were a mainstream company then we would have to make sure that the log represented our company. We will be able to compare ours to the successful logo's that have already been created in regards to wether or not we are going to make it an animation or not.
