Film Opening and Audience

Audiences are encouraged to go and see a film in the cinema if they see are really good interesting and engaging trailer. The trailer for a film is the most important part of the distribution of the film as you're making your target audience aware of what you are offering as a film company. The trailer HAS to be able to draw your target audience in as they will be the ones who are paying to go and view your film in the cinema. By encouraging your target audience to go and view your film in the cinema it means that you as a company will be able to receive a higher revenue, therefore making more money at the box office. The trailer has to be able to give your audience a rough outline of the storyline, as this will be the selling point for the film as your audience will have a preferred genre and if this film fits it they're more than likely to go and watch it. The trailer, however, should give a rough outline of what the storyline is going to be what not give too much away top the point where the audience already know what is going to happen without going to watch it. This would cause your audience to feel disengaged, resulting in them not feeling like they need or should go and watch this film. An example of a good Trailer would be one that builds tension and leaves the audience wanting to go to the cinema straight away to go and watch it.  The genre of the film should shine through in the trailer, this is an important part as this will encourage your target audience to go and watch your film.

This will help me in creating my film as I am doing a thriller. As I have done an audience questionnaire on thriller films, this will be beneficial as I will be able to use the results for my film.
