- Location- Location is key when creating a student film because you don't want to make it look cheap and like a typical 'student film'. When selecting a location you should think about what your genre is going to be and where to wish to set the film. This will make sure that the audience will understand the story line because if you had a film about England, filmed in America it wouldn't make sense.
- Camera angles- Camera angles are also a big part of the film as they will allow the audience to feel immersed and fully engaged in your film. The camera angles should have an element of cinematography to them. I believe this is beneficial for the film because if you were to create film that have horrible shakes camera angles the film will just look cheap. Camera angles should also be well thought out as they will need to show the key parts of film that the audience need to know. If the camera angles shows things that aren't beneficial to the story line then the audience aren't going to fully understand the story line and where the film is going. an example of this would extreme close up shots, these are used as a symbol of what is important to the story line like a person/character.
- Planning- Planning is a very important part of making a successful student film. This will allow for any mistakes that may be made, to be made in planning and not when your filming. Planning will also allow for you to fully understand what your story line is and when you want it to go. It will also let you know and fully research into where you are going to use as your location or locations. Planning lets you experiment with what will look best for what you are trying to portray.
- Storyline- A well thought out storyline makes the whole process of filming much easier, along with creating a successful film for your target market as you have fully thought out what you want to happen in your story. This will also help make sure you've fully planned what you want in your in your film and what you want to get across to your target market.
- Hard Work- Hard Work is a key feature to making a succesful student film. This is because the harder to work to making your student film the most succesful it can possiably be to better product you are going to recive from all of the hard work you've put in. If you try your hardest then it is clearly going to be shown in your film as the amount of commitment you put into your project clearly shows through the final product.
- Good Group- If your whole group works as hard as eachother then your all going to recieve a product that you will all be proud of. If you dont work as a group and are all over the place and dont communicate well with each other, thats when problems star to rise as people are collectively pulling thier own weight. Having a well connected group that works well together means that you'll be able to suggest ideas that all of you will be able to combine to influence your final product. This way everyone in the group will have given equal amounts of imput into the final cut which means that it will be the best it possiably could be.
- Practice/rehursle- If your group makes sure they practice and rehurse thier ideas then it wil mean that they will be able to make it the best. If you don't practice and just go into then you may make mistakes that you could have and would have avoided by practicing and rehursing your ideas. By parcticing a future idea you may want to add in you can see what it lacks and add what you think would be beneficail to the storyline. Another reason for this being a very good idea would be so that you would be able to improve yourself (if you are acting in the film) so you can see what you think you should change about yourself and you can change it so the conent will be at the best standerd. Finally, you would be able to get someone elses opinions on it and you can see what a person from the outside of production thinks of yor film. this way its like having. mock audience.
- Inspiration- finding inpiring work by others is also very benficail for the story and the film as this will enable you to get ideas for your final project from accoplished film makers and succesful student films. This way you will be able to interpret good ideas from successful films in order to be able to make your film as successful as thiers. Fianlly, by having a good inspiration for what you want your final project to look like will mean that you will not loose sight of how successful your film could be.
- Technique- This could also be a part of the whole proccess that would really benefit the final product. Technique could be anything from creating a concept for what you want your film to look like or the way you film with using
- Effective titles-
