Genre - The genre for this piece i think would be Thriller and drama. I think it would be this because of the type of film is looks like and because of the music used. I couldn't find any information on this film to what type of genre it would be.
Editing - The use of editing in this film is varied i feel at th start of the film it is very fast pased edit because of the way they have shot this scene with various angles and close ups. the editing slows down nearer the end when the male protagonist wkes up from what seems to be a dream sequence. In my opinion i feel as though the editing for this piece was very god especially when the main charcter gets into the car.

The fast paced edit in this scene is cut and editing well together. This makes the feel of the scene very frantic. This also fits well with the films genre of being a thriller and a drama. the fast paced edit used in the start of this film makes the audience question why he is running around and what is wrong. This is very good for the film as this makes the audience want to keep watching because they want to find answer to why he woke up and now is running around. the editing does slow down at the end when he comes out of his dream sequence. The audience can see this by the change in screen effect and the slowed down movements of the camera. This then informs the audience that what just happened was a dream sequence and it wasn't real. This is also demonstrated by the change in the non-dietetic music.
Sound - the non dietetic music also fits with the fasted paced edit first used in at the start of the piece. This music makes the audience question why this is happening and what is wrong. The music does this as they have used tense music that will make the audience uneasy. the non-dietetic music completely changes at the end of the film when it changes to a slower, softer piece connoting that the dream sequence has ended and it wasn't real. The music acts a big breath out from the audience when they find out the answer to all of their questions as the start.
Camera angles - The use of camera angles throughout this whole piece was extremely good as is shown when the male protagonist is in the kitchen. The use of a camera dolly is very present as you can see the camera move back and forth perfectly with out shaking. This is very good for the films quality and also for the depiction of he story. This shows that they have gone out of their way to add a variety of camera methods. The use of camera angles also helps with the depiction of the story as you can make a character look more or less important for example when the camera moves up on he grave stone. The camera is at a low angle and moves up to it which shows that this grave stone is a very important part of the film. This also shows that it is important because of the low angle used on it so that the audience feel as though they are looking up at it.
Mise-en-scene - The character is young and is wearing relaxed clothing. This is stereo typically what a young person would wear as people see young people in other films just wearing things like relaxed clothing. This also shows the type of film that it is going to be aimed at for example i think that their certification is going to be a 15. The lighting in the 'dream sequence' is a little low key, showing to the audience that this isn't real. The are able to see this when the dream sequence finishes and the lighting goes back to high key.
Titles - the titles didn't really give anything away to much as they didn't give away things like the genre and themes within the film. There were very many titles in this film as they only have the films name, where it was produced at. the actor and who created it. The titles also didn't stay up for long and they also were a specific font or colour.
Character - There weren't any other characters other than the male protagonist which could have been significant showing that he was the most important person to the story line and the story line only needed one person. The character also looked very young like he was in collage university. This may have impacted the film certification as this looks as though thy have targeted it for younger people so i think their certification would be something like a 15.
Positives and Negatives - I really liked how they filmed this piece and i also really liked the use of the dolly. However i think they could have found a better piece of music to go with it because i dont feel as though the music fully complimented the story line at all. I also think that the us of the dream sequence at the start of the film was very good as this makes the audience want to watch on and find the answer to the questions they have about the piece. I think the use of no dialogue was also very good as it made the audience really look into the information that was being presented by the actor. Finally, some thing i don't think went very well was the use of the joy rider. It isn't fully explained why the joy rider robbed him. why was the joy rider there? who is he? there was still unexplained questions that weren't answered.
This will help me in my film as this will be a clear example of how to make a success student short film on a very low budget. This is also going to help as I am also a student and this is going to be a great guide to where I should be.
